The team's builders are on fixing our dear Baby Smaug's flipper. It was getting a little worn, so we made a new one and replaced the old one. This brought about a new problem of the second ball falling into place before the flipper is back at its starting spot. The ball then runs the risk of falling under Baby Smaug and getting caught between the flipper and the metal bar that builds up tension. We have fixed this problem by adding a flap of sheet metal to hold the second ball back until the drivers are ready to shoot it.
Our drivers are now doing lots of drive practice, working with our new addition to our sweep assembly line, and in prep for state. Our Notebook Squad is working hard to get all that we need printed and our boards back up-to-date.

State is this Saturday! With less than a week left, the team is working even harder to get everything ship shape! We are going a little crazy I'll be honest XD But we're excited for this opportunity to go to Missouri University of Science and Technology for this competition!
The programmers are working on getting all of the kinks out of our code and the notebook team is sorting through everything that needs to be done. Btw what do you guys think about our robot getting some bling?
Today the team did a demonstration for our local Homeschool P.E. We had over fifty kids and their parents attended. They all seemed pretty interested and asked a lot of questions.
We've got a little over two weeks until State! The team is working hard to finish our autonomous code and get Vuforia working correctly. Vuforia is a sample program that we use to read the minerals in autonomous. It's going well. We got the left position coded but not refined. We are currently working on our center position and will be starting work on the right position when we are finished.
We missing half our crew but we still grinding hard. We're programming the motors to make sure they aren't going the wrong direction and decorating our pins for next competition. And of course we bumpin' our favorite songs 🎧
Today the team visited two engineering firms; Strickland Engineering, and Koehler Engineering. We showed them our robot, and explained the game challenge for this year.
Today, we had the pleasure of meeting Willie Sandin of Sandin Engineering. He was extremely welcoming a ready to answer any questions the team had! He explained a lot about computers, robots, electricity, Linux, and car motors. :D😍
After our celebratory meeting last Friday, we went back to work improving Baby Smaug 2.0, Notebook, and SOLIDWORKS. Today the team went to our shift at St. Mary's Food Pantry.
On January 19th, we had our SEMO State Qualifier. While we didn't perform the best on the field, we did get a first place Think Award for our Notebook, a second place Control Award, and a second place Inspire Award. With these awards we have qualified for State.
We are so thankful for all our sponsors for helping us get to where we are. We hope to improve our robot even further, and perform even better at State. |
